Our Volusia Sheriff’s Office holiday programs are sponsored by the Volusia Sheriff’s Youth Foundation. Programs include the Deputies Toy Shop, in which deputies deliver gifts throughout the county to families, and Shop with a Deputy with pre-selected families.
Last year we reached more than 400 families. This year it’s likely to be more in the aftermath of hurricanes Ian and Nicole. It’s especially tough for many who lost everything in the storms. It’s a reality check to meet people in our community who are struggling to make ends meet, whether it’s a grandfather raising three growing grandsons, or a single mom working three jobs.
I’m thankful for generous donors here in Volusia County. We have community partners, businesses, and private donors that conduct toy drives and make monetary donations, all to help put a smile on a child’s face at Christmas or help alleviate some of parents’ stress.
One of the greatest things about being the sheriff of Volusia County is the generosity of folks here. People come out of the woodwork to help—that speaks to the character of people in this county.
It’s not too late to help!
We are accepting toy donations through Thursday, December 15, 2022, at Volusia Family Resource Center, 3747 W. International Speedway Blvd., Daytona Beach, FL 32124. To make monetary donations, go to http://VSYF.org/
Thank you for helping us help our friends and neighbors,
Sheriff Mike Chitwood
